CITATION METHODS
1. IN-TEXT CITATION

CORRECT :  Tannins are a secondary polyphenolic metabolite that are distribute widely in wood, bark, leaves, fruits, roots, and seeds, and for many different plants they protect against infections and insects (Haslam, 1988). 

The citation can also be  : Haslam (1988)

WRONG : Furthermore, tannins are used in surface coatings, plastics (Grigsby et al. 2014), resins (Bisanda et al. 2003), manufacturing adhesives (Pizzi 1982, 2006; Hoong et al. 2011), and water purification (Sanchez-Martin et al. 2010a).

The first in-text citation should be include all authors name instead of et al.

CORRECT : Shairah, N., Shahrifun, A., Nazilah, N., Aris, A., Omar, Q., & Ahmad, N. (2015). Characterization of Palm Oil Mill Secondary Effluent (POMSE). Malaysian Journal of Civil Engineering, 27(1), 144–151.

Complete bibliography should have author’s name, title of the articles, publisher, and year of publication.

Title in the reference should be the title of the article.

1. Depends on Wikipedia for the information details

2. Do not have the listed criteria
  • Author
  • Title
  • Publisher
  • Date/Year of publication

3. Limits the finding only on online instead of searching resources in physical library.


PARAPHRASE
Common Mistake
  - Converting active sentence into passive 



sentence. Research report should be in 




ACTIVE voice.


  - Changing the authenticity of idea or meaning 



of the referred articles/journals.

1. Use library UMS online database
  - ScienceDirect
  - SpringerLink
  - Google scholar

2. Others online database
  - Scopus
   - Research Gate


3. Make ake sure have the complete criteria as mentioned previously.



4. Narrow the scope of searching by using various techniques such as boolean search.



5. Use (“ ”) to focus on keyword of the research title.



6. Look for the synonym of the keywords of research title.
