By definition, research is a systematic investigation on a specific topic either existing or new for knowledge improvement and facts establishment.

From what I have learned, the process of research involved defining research problem, reviewing the literature  which includes the concept and theories, as well as previous research finding, formulating hypotheses, designing research, collecting data, analysing data, and finally interpret and report.

As my lecturers always remind us that research is all about philosophy, I am hoping that by learning courses of research methodology, the principle and theory that I will find out while doing research will enhance my research skills and even knowledge in engineering field. On the other hand, I wish that my research will reach the society to be applicable and beneficial.

There are some ethics which must be considered in doing research that are honesty, integrity, carefulness, openness, respect for intellectual property, confidentiality, responsible publication and mentoring, respect for colleagues, social responsibility, non-discrimination, competence, legality, animal care, and human subjects protection.

The most important student quality in doing research is being proactive. Proactive student will definitely discover and explore more things compare to the other. Apart from that, one should avoid plagiarism since research should have its own credit and authenticity.
